HOW WE MET

  • OUR STORY

Juliana Oludeyi

We met in January 2011 at Tacsfon fellowship in Lautech Ogbomoso, he was in 500L and I was in 100L. One of the first things I knew about him was the similarity in our surnames: I had a few people ask if I knew him because of our surnames. He became a brother, and a friend. But then, my stay in Lautech came to an end. We stayed in touch via Facebook and occasional phone calls. He soon became my closest confidant and best friend even without realizing it. Our friendship grew over the next 3 years, thanks to WhatsApp, Facebook messenger and Sunday calls

The short hair petite sister, who wouldn’t eat in school, Tosin was part of the level (100level) I was tasked to follow-up with in the fellowship. I was to ask about their welfare which I did with these simple questions; How are you, Are you eating, How are lectures…. Our discussions soon grew to be based around one thing; HUNGER. She was never hungry for food but always hungry for God. We grew close on the note of Hunger, it became the rallying point, have you eaten and have you read your Bible. Not long later, she told me she would be leaving Lautech to go study in Canada.

He said he wanted us to go out on a date and while we were eating and I was trying to gist, he took over the discussion. Telling me how he loves me, and recounting the sweet memories we've had over the years and then asked me to close my eyes, I did and I started sensing flashes on my eyes and when I opened my eyes, he was on his knee, with a ring in his hand and a photographer taking pictures. He asked if I'd marry him and of course, I said Yes!

First Date

Thank God for Sweet Sensation, our first date was in 2015 when she visited Nigeria to attend her sister’s wedding. We met, ate, discussed, gisted, took pictures. Our discussion was based on how to navigate through our long distance relationship and be the best we can be for each other.

Our Proposal

As with all Love stories, words are key initiators. Our Love story started from a WORD, that WORD was nurtured and now it has blossomed into MARRIAGE. The summary of our love story is…. God! There is no writing our love story without God; for it was in Him we came to be.

Our wedding day!

Jibola

Coming from my SU background, I proposed marriage when I asked her out for a relationship (the idea is this; we are taught to pray well till we get a point of persuasion about the relationship before speaking to our “sister”), so when my elder sister approached me to take the opportunity of Tosin’s presence in Nigeria in 2017 to propose, I simply said, “I have proposed”, long and short I took counsel and I put a ring on it. Yea, I knelt down 😉😉😉

"From the simplicity of a friendship started in the fellowship, to being best of friends to getting in a relationship now marriage"

Our Love story = God’s story
